The Farm
The UpperFarm
The UpperFarm sits on a beautiful nearly 50 acres in northwestern NJ in Sussex County; just over an hour from the Lincoln Tunnel or George Washington Bridge. With a mix of grass and dry lots, day and night turnout, there is ample outside time and our horses are relaxed and happy. The barn was built in 2013, with 25 12x12 stalls, all with a large window, we have an attached 70x180 indoor, tack room with individual tack lockers, laundry and human comforts all on site. An ever expanding cross country field with jumps through preliminary and full water complex are also available for training.
Nutrition and Care
Penwick proudly feed, Masterfeeds, which gives us access to nutritionists and cutting edge feeds to keep even the most difficult of horses feeling their best. We are also partnered with Grand Meadows supplements keeping our horses extra healthy through the stresses of competition and travel. We work with a top quality farrier and barefoot trimmer, keeping horses on a strict 5 week schedule for optimal soundness and hoof health. We also have a top notch team of veterinarians, a sports medicine specialist, magnawave and massage therapist keeping our horses feeling their best and catching little things before they become big things.
Always Improving, Worth the Drive
Most of our clients have been with Chelsea for 5 years or more and commute from New York City, Montclair and surrounding areas for training and entrust us with the care of their horses during the week. They will all tell you that we never settle and are always improving the farm from a functional or cosmetic standpoint to make it a more enjoyable place for horses and humans alike.
